If you enjoy overtly yeasty Champagne this would make a good choice as there is plenty of it here framing the relatively elegant nose that combines notes of citrus, white flowers, pear and apple scents that display wisps of secondary development. The old vines definitely are in evidence here with fine mid-palate density that is supported by a moderately fine mousse, all wrapped in a delicious, sappy and lingering finish. This isn’t a particularly refined example but I quite like it for its complexity and clear concentration. Note further that this could be enjoyed now or easily held for another 5-ish years first if desired. (10/2016)
