2020’ BH Score: 91-94 /Tasted: Jan 10, 2022/Drink: 2032+ /Issue: 85
Note: from a 1.32 ha holding in the climats of Les Rouges du Bas, Les Cruots and Clos St. Denis
Tasting note: Ripe and nicely fresh aromas of plum, dark currant, red cherry, anise and jasmine tea give way to succulent, round and delicious medium-bodied flavors that also possess a beguiling texture while displaying excellent depth and persistence on the youthfully austere and well-balanced finish.
2019’ BH Score: 91-94 /Tasted: Jan 10, 2021/Drink: 2034+/Issue: 81
Note: from a 1.32 ha holding in the climats of Les Rouges du Bas, Les Cruots and Clos St. Denis
Tasting note: Here too the aromatic profile is ripe but cool with its much spicier assortment of red raspberry, dark cherry, anise and floral nuances, all of which is trimmed in discreet wood. There is both excellent volume and punch to the rich though quite compact finale that, unusually for this wine, exhibits a touch of rusticity on the beautifully long and slightly warm finale. This is another wine in the Lamarche range that will need extended patience.
2018’ BH Score: 90-93/ Tasted: Jan 10, 2020 /Drink: 2033+ /Issue: 77
Note: from the climats of Les Rouges du Bas, Les Cruots and Clos St. Denis
Tasting note: A riper nose reflects notes of poached plum, red currant, violet and a plethora of spice suggestions. The supple and relatively forward mid-palate of the moderately dense flavors immediately tighten up on the impressively complex and persistent finish that is shaped by a notably firm tannic spine that will require extended patience to resolve. I like the vibrancy and this is really quite good.
2017’ BH Score: 91-93’/ Tasted: Jan 10, 2019 / Drink: 2029+ / Issue: 73
Note: from the climats of Les Rouges du Bas, Les Cruots and Clos St. Denis
Tasting note: An exuberantly spicy nose reflects aromas of exotic tea, sandalwood, red and dark currant plus a pretty array of floral elements. The supple and round flavors possess both good volume and richness though not nearly the same minerality on the succulent yet still entirely serious finish that coats the palate with sappy dry extract. This is a quality Ech though at least some patience is required.
